It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is this week. I love this holiday because it always involves lots of my family members, good food, and my favorite sport, football. And, it also prompts me to think about and appreciate all the blessings that I have in my life.
I’m sure most of you know the history of Thanksgiving but I felt like it was a good idea to remind everyone of how this started. Back in 1620, a group of 101 English Pilgrims sailed across the Atlantic Ocean on the Mayflower in hopes of a fresh start in the “New World”. The journey ended in what is now Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Native Americans from the Wampanoag tribe helped the Pilgrims by teaching them how to catch fish and grow corn. The following fall, the Pilgrims and their Native American friends celebrated their first harvest. The celebration lasted three days and is believed to be the original Thanksgiving.
Obviously, this holiday has evolved into a big tradition that we now observe on the 4th Thursday of November. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and employees for their loyal support and wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving.
Continuing with the theme of being thankful, we have been fortunate to be able to continue to support many worthwhile causes. This month, we supported Team Parker and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the local CCA banquet, the Hope for Opelousas organization, and some local school events. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to help to make a positive impact in our local communities.
We’re making it happen at Action and when our customers call, we always say “we can do that!”.
