Action in the Community

Action Specialties takes great pride in the wonderful community that it calls home. Community activism and involvement have always been of the utmost importance to the entire staff at Action Specialties. In addition to community service, the company recognizes the need to keep its employees on the cutting edge of skills, leadership, and development in order to best serve those who rely on Action Specialties to fulfill their needs. In keeping with this set of values, Action Specialties has taken part in numerous development events.

Angie Hargett leading discussion at Iberia On Tap

One event that Action Specialties has been attending is Lafayette’s Social Media Breakfast series. Taking place on the first Friday of every month the event is comprised of round-table discussion (with a new, guided theme each time) led by different industry professionals, all with the common theme of Social Media issues and current developments. The series is part of a larger phenomenon taking place across the country where professionals (and anyone else who is interested) can sit down and discuss real-life situations and scenarios in the world of Social Media and web presence. Curated by Social Media guru, Paul Chaney (author of The Digital Handshake), the meetings are a vibrant look at this emerging marketing medium.

Another professional development series which Action Specialties has taken part in is New Iberia’s young leadership group, Iberia On Tap. As described in a previous post, Iberia On Tap is geared towards those with an interest in helping the Greater Iberia area emerge as the hub of professionals that those who live within it know it can be. On June 2, Angie Hargett, CEO of Revolution Training Technologies, gave an inspirational talk on personal and professional development, and taking the time to clean the slate in order to enter the every-day grind with a clear mind.

Finally, Action Specialties took part in the Professional Development series being facilitated by the New Iberia Chamber of Commerce. The event on June 15 was led by Bizzuka, a professional website services firm. Focused on the subject of website content development, the event offered the opportunity for local professionals from all walks to ask questions and give feedback on current web issues.

Action Specialties can be found and many community philanthropy projects, personal and professional development series, and social gatherings in the Acadiana area. Keep an eye on our home page and Facebook profile for news on where you can find us next!

In my time as a suppliers rep, I traveled half the country and saw some serious operations. I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with what you guys have put together. I look forward to seeing the end results and to doing more business in the future.
