Action Specialties and the 2011 New Iberia World Championship Gumbo Cookoff!

Action Specialties took part in the 2011 World Championship Gumbo Cookoff in New Iberia, La. The 22nd installment of the annual event drew more than 90 vendors who put their Rouxs to the test!

The event, spanning the weekend of October 9th through the 11th featured live music and some of the best food that the area has to offer. Groups form around the country gathered the Saturday before the official cookoff to show off some of their cooking skills, all gumbo aside. But the main attraction, taking place on Sunday, took the cake (or gumbo bowl!).

The theme of this year’s cookout was “Peace, Love, and Gumbo!” This made for an absolute rainbow of outfits, paying homage to the era of discos, afros, and apparently Gumbos!
