8th Annual Halliburton Chili Cook Off - Thursday, November 12, 2009
|
On November 12, 2009, the 8th
Annual Halliburton
Chili cook off was held at the Mall of Acadiana. This
event's proceeds benefits the United Way of
Acadiana, and this year was another huge success. Action
Specialties has been a proud partner
with Hallliburton for this event since its inception. Action
Specialties donates the committee
member and judges t-shirts, along with t-shirts that are available for
sale to
the general public. An admission fee of
$ 5.00 allows you the opportunity to taste over 80 different types of
chili in
both the exotic and traditional categories.
And of course, if you've ever been, chances are you will gather
at the
Action Specialties tent to treat yourself to our "famous" stuffed jalapeno peppers.
This year, a whopping 60 lbs of peppers were prepared in advance,
and
grilled on site the day of the cook off.
Approximately 1800 peppers were served, and we actually ran out
about an
hour prior to the end of the event.
Special thanks to Jared Bienvenu and Craig Landry who always
brave the
early morning elements (somewhere around 5:30AM) to kick off the
lighting of
the pits for the peppers, and the preparation of the chili. (Yes we do cook a delicious chili also).
Marla McDuffie shows up around 8:30 to
supervise the whole production, and make the last minute trip to the
store. Thank you to the ladies who came
out to help serve.Millisa Savoie, Beckie Mendoza, Lauren Bienvenu,
Marissa
Guidry, and Jessica Roy. A great big thank you goes to the wonderful
support
team that we have behind the scenes, the ladies who always help prepare
the
peppers, and all of our staff that holds down the fort back at the
office,
allowing us to be with our customers. We
were also thrilled that we had our very own Jeff Landry on site shooting
the
great photos that you see posted here.
Mark your calendars for November 2010, and plan to join us for a
pepper
or two, or three...
See the photos in our photo-gallery.
